Lancashire vicar Rev. Susan Seed has been pulling on her running shoes during May for the first of two fundraising challenges.

Rev. Susan Seed, pictured, Rector of The United Benefice of Slyne with Hest and Halton with Aughton, takes up the story: "I am doing two challenges to raise money for two of my churches.

"Through the month of May I am aiming to run 100 miles to raise money for our new Church Hall at St Luke's Slyne with Hest.

"We share the Church with the URC and two of their members are also doing the challenge.

"We all run, but none of us are serious distance runners, so the 100 miles will be a challenge.  We are raising money through sponsors and we also have a 'Just Giving' page where people can donate.

Susan continued: "We are going to run our final mile on Friday May 31 at 4pm.

"The plan is to run a circuit from the church and people are invited to run the last mile with us, or to turn out and cheer us on, or to just come and eat cake afterwards!"

But it's not over then, as Susan explains: "On June 8 I am taking part in the Great North Swim (a mile swim in Lake Windermere) to raise money for roof repairs at St Wilfrid!"
