This is an exciting opportunity to learn from Professor Steve Walton, a renowned Luke-Acts scholar, as he leads us through thinking about and preparing to preach through texts from Luke’s Gospel (the lectionary Gospel for the coming year). This day will equip you with knowledge, tools and approaches which will enable you to understand Luke’s Gospel more fully and to preach it more informatively and accessibly to your congregations. In particular, you should gain:
• understanding of the overall shape and content of Luke
• knowledge of some key approaches and resources for reading Luke
• an outline of some key themes in Luke
• a look at a particular passage in Luke
• opportunity to study a section of Luke in groups with an eye on how to preach from it
