Parishes and schools across the diocese are busy preparing to celebrate the Queen's loyal and faithful service to our nation and Commonwealth.

We have a special page on this website with a host of helpful information, advice and resources for the Platinum Jubilee weekend. You can access it here.

Bishop Julian has also issued a special video message on our YouTube channel to mark the Platinum Jubilee weekend.

Watch it here and go the news pages of this website to read the text which is also available there as a downloadable Word or pdf file.

In advance of celebrations we also asked parishes and schools to share their plans and below are a selection of the updates we received ...

St Paul’s Church was at the Centre of Adlington’s Jubilee festivities over the four-day weekend. A two-day Family Fun Day attracted people from across the village. There were competitions, rides, games, food stalls and two fully-licensed bars, as well as a children’s entertainer, balloon modeller and live music. The event was supported by Adlington Council, and was truly a community event in the Church grounds, which are at the heart of our village. It was a great opportunity to show people what the church is about and to make them feel welcome.

On Saturday evening the focus changed, as the Church became the venue for the premiere of a Murder Mystery Play written by local author, Chris Martin. The nave became the great hall of Snetterdale Castle as sleuths attempted to work out who murdered Duke William Longbottom in a most grisly fashion in 1485.

We feel that these events truly affirm the place of the church at the heart of its community.
