The Chaplaincy played host to many on the 3rd December, for the licensing of Lancaster University Anglican Chaplain- Reverend Matt Guilder. This was part of an officiation service led by Right Reverend Dr Jill Duff-Anglican Bishop of Lancaster and member of the University’s Chaplaincy Trustee Board.
Bishop Jill spoke about the significantly strengthened relationship between the Diocese of Blackburn and Lancaster University in recent times and hope that the Diocese were excited about the future of Chaplaincy within the University community. Bishop Jill also thanked Sabiha Patel, Associate Director - Student Wellbeing and Inclusion, for all her efforts to support the University Chaplaincy, alongside Sally Schofield, Deputy Director of Education, Blackburn Diocese.
Representing the University, Nicola Owen, Deputy CEO (Operations) gave an engaging address on the University and its interface with with Chaplaincy for its international community of staff and sudents. Sarah Kemp was also thanked as Chair of the Chaplaincy Trustee Board and PVC (Engagement) and the role she has played in advancing Chaplaincy at the University and with its partners.
Rev Matt prayed for and thanked those who attended for their support. He went on to share his enthusiasm and joy at being in the role and hope in supporting the University community alongside the wider chaplain taeam. As Anglican Chaplain Rev Matt hopes to support all in, “Exploring, Developing, Sharing: Faith in Jesus”
