The national Church of England website relaunches soon at www.churchofengland.org

Parishes should be aware that the national Church of England website is being relaunched soon, based on user feedback.

The goal is for the website to best reach the people it serves today: from local church leaders and churchgoers, to those who might be curious about faith, and many others.

The development of the site has involved extensive research and testing with all these groups.

The launch will be later in autumn. The exact ‘go live’ date will be announced nearer the time.

Serving local church leaders

The new website will offer a dedicated ‘Resources for parishes’ section. This will bring into one place all the resources for parishes that are currently held across three websites: ChurchOfEngland.org, ParishResources.org and AchurchNearYou.com/ResourceHub. Much of the content has been rewritten to be clearer, more accessible and up to date.

Improved organisation of safeguarding information

The safeguarding e-manual will be renamed the Safeguarding Gateway, where you will continue to find Codes of Practice, guidance and resources. The National Safeguarding Team will be in touch with diocesan, cathedral and parish safeguarding officers and comms teams to share more about the changes and improvements.

Current links will be redirected

Wherever possible, existing links will be redirected. This means that after ‘go live’, you will be automatically forwarded to the relevant page if you use an existing link or bookmark, with no need for further clicks. In particular, the national Advent and Christmas resources for churches will remain on the same link continuously: cofe.io/ChristmasResources.
