Churches encouraged to mark Homelessness Sunday 2025

The issue of homelessness still blights many in society and our churches in Lancashire can and do support people in dire need of help. We can also pray for them.

The organisation 'Housing Justice' is marking Homelessness Sunday on the Sunday before World Homeless Day once again this year. For 2025 that's October 5.
Churches are asked to run their own Homelessness Sunday Service on October 5 or a Sunday nearby when it's convenient.

Latest Government data (published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in March) for England states that there were 3,438 people estimated to be sleeping rough on a single night in March 2025 - up by 332 people or 11% since the same period last year.

Housing Justice hopes that by taking time to reflect on Homelessness Sunday, Church congregations will consider what they can do in their own community to alleviate homelessness, suffering and poverty while praying for the scourge of homelessness to head towards terminal decline.

Clicking here you will find a range of resources to support churches to run their own Homelessness Sunday Service, including resources for younger people.
