The Bishop of Burnley, the Rt Rev Philip North, confirmed 23 people at a special Confirmation Service in St. Anne’s Parish Church, St. Annes-on-Sea recently – 16 young people and seven adults.
In addition, eight of the candidates (including a baby boy) were also baptised together.
Candidates for Confirmation all came from St. Anne’s Church.
The church was filled with family and friends of those who were confirmed, and the Bishop was assisted by the Vicar, Fr. David Lyon, the Assistant Curate, Fr. Aiden Edwards.
The service was followed by refreshments as the candidates and their families celebrated with church officials.
Speaking after the service Bishop Philip said: “I was privileged to be able to pray for and confirm sixteen young people and seven adults and it was exciting to witness so many taking this important step of faith together.
“As part of our Vision 2026: Healthy Churches Transforming Communities we seek to make disciples for Jesus. In our Diocese in Lancashire we have one of the highest confirmation rates in the Church of England.
“I look forward to many more joyous confirmation services like this one in the future.”
Fr. David Lyon added: “This was a wonderful occasion for all present, and a magnificent blend of thanksgiving, prayer and true joyfulness. It will be brilliant to continue to walk with them on their Christian journey.”
