It’s an important time for lay ministry in our Diocese because, in the coming days as we continue to Unlock, there will be two special services taking place at our Cathedral in Blackburn.
On September 11 at 6pm, more than 100 Licensed Lay Ministers (LLMs) will gather to be commissioned for another three years of ministry alongside those being licensed for the first time or transferring into the Diocese from elsewhere.
Those retiring (becoming Emeritus) will also be recognised during the service and the Wardens team will also be commissioned.
On September 18 at 3pm, it’s the turn of our Authorised Lay Ministers (ALMs) to be commissioned. There will be more than 60 new ALMs who have been trained for Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, occasional preaching, pastoral care, small group leadership, urban mission and worship leading.
They will be joined by more than 40 Pastoral Assistants who will be recommissioned as Pastoral ALMs.
There will be full coverage (with pictures) after each of the services. Look out for that coverage and also for follow-up articles in the local news media too ... as we continue to spread the word as wide as possible to the people of the County about the wonderful work God is doing across our amazing Diocese.
