The Cathedral Civic County Memorial Service will begin at 2pm on Sunday afternoon and, due to the large number of attendees expected, there will be ticketing.

A limited number of seats are being made available to the public on a first-come first-served basis. You can book seats here (first come, first served with the booking) and the livestream will be available here. Please note that the link for booking will be taken down when capacity has been reached. We apologise in advance if you don't manage to get a seat.

However, the Cathedral service will be livestreamed and you can watch the livestream via the embedded video link above. Follow along via the Order of Service which can be downloaded from here.

You can also follow the build-up to the service, with limited social media during and then more after the service via live activity on Twitter @cofelancs, @bbcathedral and also the local council Twitter feed @blackburndarwen

The service will be covered by a number of local and regional media including BBC Radio Lancashire and BBC North West Tonight, the latter of which has a special edition planned on BBC1 at 5.30pm on Sunday, covering the weekend's events.

  • Full coverage of the service will also appear here after it has taken place; including pictures.

  • As well as the national Church of England online Book of Condolence, Blackburn Cathedral has also opened an online Book, alongside books currently available in the Cathedral to sign in person.
  • Many of our parish churches also have books of condolence and are also open for quiet reflection and private prayer.
  • Resources and information for parishes to engage with across Lancashire are available 24/7 currently on our Diocesan website here, as part of ongoing coverage and support in this time of national mourning.
  • Meanwhile, additional services to remember Her Late Majesty are also taking place in our many parishes scattered across the County. To find your nearest one visit www.achurchnearyou.com
