The Mothers' Union (MU) branch for Blackburn Diocese is once again organising a ‘powerful and moving’ exhibition to bring the often-hidden issue of domestic abuse into the light.

The exhibition - open to people across Lancashire and beyond - had its first outing in the County last year after the MU had previously initiated a partnership with Women's Aid in 2022.

'The Souls of our Shoes', will take place this year at St Bartholomew Church in Colne from September 8-14. The exhibition is free, running from 10am-4pm each day with additional times to view on Tuesday and Wednesday, 6-8pm.

There is no need to book; just turn up (although if you want to book a group viewing you can do so in advance). For more information and for group bookings contact Lisa Peynado on lisapeynado@googlemail.com

‘The Souls of our Shoes’ is based on an original idea from the Scottish Interfaith Group on Domestic Abuse.

Speaking when the exhibition first launched last year, Gill Ireland, President of the Blackburn Diocese branch of Mothers' Union, said: "Using words from survivors of domestic abuse, linked with representative pairs of shoes, the exhibition is a powerful and moving experience. In setting up this event we hope to raise awareness of domestic abuse and its impact in our communities."
