Read more about the award in this news story in which Andy said: "It is a real honour to be awarded an MBE and to be recognised in this way. This award recognises the important role of volunteers during what has been a really challenging time and I am proud to be one of them.”
Andy was also interviewed by That's Lancashire TV about receiving the honour. You can watch the interview on their Facebook page.
Rt Rev. Julian Henderson, Bishop of Blackburn, said today: “I am delighted to hear this news … Andy has served for many years as my Interfaith Adviser but that is clearly just one string to his bow!
"The reasons cited for Andy receiving this award embody what our Diocesan Vision 2026 is about: healthy churches transforming communities. In this case it involves acts of service of real consequence by Andy in his local community; all carried out at a time of real need during the pandemic. My warmest congratulations.”
