The new Area Dean for Whalley Deanery (part of The Church of England in Lancashire) was commissioned recently by the Bishop of Burnley, Rt Rev Philip North.
Rev Liz McLean of St Peter’s Salesbury is now the Area Dean – a role that gives her additional responsibilities alongside those in her parish; involving the care of people and church buildings for the whole Deanery.
The Commissioning Service took place at St Peter’s.
In a comment reflecting our Diocesan ‘Vision 2026 Healthy Churches Transforming Communities’, Rev Liz McLean said: “It was a privilege to be commissioned for the role by Bishop Philip.
“I now look forward to working with the Bishops and Archdeacons of the Diocese to support the clergy and lay people in this Deanery.
“Together we will continue to make healthy churches where people belong, find a home, experience the transforming power of Jesus and seek to transform their communities with His love.”
