The puppets of Mitten Ministry at St Chad’s Church in Poulton-le-Fylde are gearing up for a busy year in 2018.
Mitten Ministry was created several years ago by the church’s late Reader, Vanessa Frost, and the puppets now take an active part in St Chad’s all-age worship and appear at Junior Church.
They have also expanded their appearances to cover St Hilda’s Church in Carleton, and a number of events out and about in the Fylde community.
Lindsay Mason, the Diocesan Vision Champion at St Chads, said: “Our Mitten Ministry puppet team are looking to go further afield into schools and care homes in 2018 to bring the Gospel to people in a very ‘user-friendly’ way.
“This is something that we are finding is having great success in bringing families to our All Age Worship services, and getting them to keep coming back.
St Chad’s now has four puppeteers, who also write the scripts for Mitten Ministry presentations. Members of the congregation have generously donated funds to buy more puppets and extend the range of characters.
Says Lindsay: “Our aim is to make the Christian faith accessible, and the puppets are a great way to engage people of all ages. The feedback we receive is hugely positive!”
