On September 9 there will be a service at Blackburn Cathedral featuring the commissioning of a large new group of ‘Authorised Lay Ministers’ (ALMs).

The celebration will take place at 3pm and is led by Bishop Philip. Also attending are Bishop Jill, Archdeacon Mark and Archdeacon David. Please be praying for this year's cohort.

Authorised Lay Ministry is one of our ‘pathways’ for lay ministry and it was introduced in 2021 across the Diocese.

Our ALMs have trained for very specific ministries in their local church and are commissioned by their parish Priest. The work of ALMs is additional to that of Licensed Lay Ministers (LLMs) who have a broader remit in our parishes.

Meanwhile, later this month on September 23 at 3pm in St Stephen’s Church, Preston, the licensing service for our new LLMs (Licensed Lay Ministers) will take place.
